View from diagonally above on a TactiPad drawing board with MDA attached. The MDA has drawn the outlines of the Netherlands on the foil of the drawing board. The south and the centre of the country are visible, while the northern part is not yet drawn or is covered by the drawing arm that is drawing this part.

Motorized Drawing Arm (MDA)
The MDA is a computer-driven motorised arm that draws tactile graphics from digital templates on the TactiPad Drawing Board. It combines the accuracy of digital graphics with the versatility of drawing by hand. Digital drawing and tactile perception almost works simultaneously with the MDA!

Further information

The image consists of a left and a right half. Left half: Screenshot of the TactileView software. In the programme window with its many tool buttons on the left and above, the preview of an A4 sheet with the outlines of the Netherlands and its provinces can be seen concisely in the middle. The province of Gelderland is also hatched and outlined in red. A thick yellow arrow framed in black leads the eye from the left to the right half of the picture: an enlarged image of two fingertips feeling a tactile graphic of dots, the lines of which are also visually traced in black. A closer look reveals the graphic section to be the province of Zeeland on the map of the Netherlands.

TactileView Drawing Software
The TactileView software by Thinkable creates tactile graphics. Besides the software with easy to use tools, there is an international web catalogue with graphic templates. After designing them on the computer, the images can be printed on a braille embosser or on swell paper (microcapsule paper).

Bird's eye view of the TactiPad drawing board in yellow and black design. The yellow frame of the board has rails on each of the four sides in which the drawing tools can be fixed with screws. As an example, a ruler is laid across the drawing board from top left to bottom right and fixed to the two side rails. In addition, a triangular and a semi-circular angle template as well as a compass and a pencil are placed loosely on the board.

TactiPad Drawing Board
TactiPad by Thinkable is a drawing board which enables a VIP to make or perceive a tactile drawing. These drawings are made on a plastic foil. By lightly pressing down on the foil while drawing, the lines raise instantly. Ergonomic design and included drawing tools.
