discovering hands is a social enterprise which trains blind and vision-impaired people to be Medical Tactile Examiners (MTE). With their highly developed tactile sense and a specialized method, the Tactile Breast Examination, MTE improve early breast cancer detection through this new complementary diagnostic technique.

Occupational re-training as Medical-Tactile Examiner (MTE) and guaranteed labour market inclusion

Participants of the training learn how to perform the Tactile Breast Examination, study the anatomy, physiology as well as benign and malign diseases of the breast. Subsequently, MTE work in gynecologist practices or clinics.

MTE course – a measure of vocational rehablilitation

Course-participation is financially facilitated by the Arbeitsagentur/Jobcenter/DRV. Duration: 6 months in-classroom teaching + 3 months practical training, followed by permanent contract. Courses in Berlin from August, in Nuremberg from September

MTE course with a study grant

Course-participation is facililtated by discovering hands scholarship sponsors. Duration: 7 months (50% in-classroom teaching/50% online teaching at home) + 3 months practical training, followed by a permanent contract. Course starts end of 2022
