An audio adventure with an exciting combination of a classic radio play and real-time interaction: “Sound of Magic” is an audio adventure that combines a classic radio play with real-time interaction to create a unique experience. The user’s smartphone is only used to control the game character – it is not necessary to look at the device at any time. The visualization of the world and its characters is left entirely to the player’s imagination. The audio game genre is nothing new, and yet today it is at best a niche phenomenon. “Sound of Magic” throws the legacy of this underestimated genre overboard and reinvents it – the innovation is in the design. The player experiences the entire story from the first person. The complete toolkit of classic adventure games is at their disposal (movement, interaction, inventory, spells). Long narrative sections have been deliberately avoided, and the player only discovers the story through their own interaction with the game world. The young indie game studio Everbyte teamed up with two-time winner of the German Computer Game Award Jirka Dell’Oro-Friedl (Furtwangen University) to develop the game.
