In this practice-oriented workshop, various screen reader solutions are presented and compared. Participants will gain valuable insights into the use of the most common screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA and Microsoft Narrator. The workshop is aimed at both beginners and experienced users and focuses on the following topics: – Overview of the most important functions and differences between the various screen readers – Practical tips for efficient navigation and operation – Keyboard shortcuts and shortcuts for productive everyday use – Customization options and individual configuration – Solutions for typical problems and challenges – Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute their own experiences. The aim of the workshop is to provide all visitors with concrete assistance for their individual use of screen readers and to improve digital accessibility in everyday life.

Karl-Matthias Schäfer
Mr. Schäfer is an experienced IT trainer who has been blind since birth. With his expertise in assistive technologies, he has established himself as an expert in digital accessibility.
After studying computer science, he dedicated himself to training people with visual impairments in the use of technical aids. As a sought-after speaker, he has been sharing his in-depth knowledge of screen readers, Braille displays and audiobooks for people with reading impairments at specialist conferences and workshops for over 15 years.
