Help with the SightCity app

General information

The SightCity app is specially designed for blind and visually impaired visitors and makes it easier to find your way around Cape Europe. It offers an intuitive user interface and practical functions to help you find your way around the trade fair. The app is available free of charge for all common mobile operating systems.

  • Download: In the App Store and Play Store under “SightCity”
  • Developer: VisorApps
  • WLAN recommendation: Use the free WLAN “+” in Cape Europe for an optimal user experience

App structure

The app is clearly divided into three main areas, which you can access at any time using the tabs at the bottom of the screen:

  1. Welcome: Here you will find all general trade fair information such as address, opening hours, access to this help section and other important details for your visit to the fair.
  2. Scan: This area allows you to scan the QR code for your location and shows you which exhibitors are in your immediate vicinity.
  3. Search: A powerful function that allows you to search for specific exhibitors and products to help you plan your visit to the fair efficiently.

Functionality

This year, for the first time, we have implemented an innovative QR code system that makes it much easier to find your way around the exhibition grounds. The QR codes are strategically placed on the floor next to the guide lines for the blind. Short branches lead directly from the main guideline to the individual stands. At each of these branches, you will find a QR code on both the right and left, so that at least one of them should always be accessible.

Utilization

  1. Open the “Scan” tab (the first time, the app will ask for camera access, which you should allow)
  2. Simply hold your smartphone towards the floor where the QR codes are located
  3. Upon successful recognition, your device will give a vibration as feedback
  4. The app will immediately show you which exhibitors are presenting at this stand
  5. For more detailed information: With TalkBack or VoiceOver activated, simply double-tap on the desired exhibitor name

If a QR code is obscured by other visitors, do not hesitate to politely ask them to step aside for a moment.

Search

Functions

The search function is a powerful tool for finding specific exhibitors or products. You can easily switch between the exhibitor and product view at the top. There is also a search field for text entries and a practical category filter.

Kategorie Filter

You can use the category filter to limit the display to specific subject areas:

  1. Activate the “Categories” button at the top of the screen
  2. Select the categories you are interested in
  3. Confirm your selection with “Done”
  4. To remove the filter later, select “All categories” and confirm with “Done”

This function is particularly useful if you are only interested in certain product groups or exhibitor areas.

Search function

The text search searches different content depending on the selected view:

  • When searching for exhibitors, names, stand numbers and brief descriptions are searched
  • Product names and all descriptive texts are included in the product search

Tip: Use the most precise but short search terms possible for the best results. If search terms are too long or complex, relevant hits could be overlooked.
