SightCity Forum

Experience how innovation changes lives!

The SightCity Forum brings to life how rapidly the possibilities for visually impaired and blind people have developed. What once began with converted microfilm readers and bulky, error-prone OCR technology has now become a diverse range of modern assistance solutions: AI-supported devices. Intelligent orientation systems with GPS, tags, and RFID enable independent navigation. Medical innovations are redefining social and professional participation.

For more than two decades, ACTO e. V., the vocational training and employment promotion centers, PRO RETINA Deutschland e. V., and the German Blind and Visually Impaired Association (DBSV) e. V. have been pooling their expertise and experience with exhibitors and speakers. We combine current research, practical solutions, and real-life experiences—competently, forward-looking, and close to the people—supported by a strong network and the common goal of sustainably improving participation.

Accompanying the SightCity trade fair, the forum offers laypeople and experts understandable specialist lectures, lively discussion panels with affected individuals, relatives, and experts, as well as medically led patient symposia on clinical pictures, therapies, and the latest research developments. Social law issues relating to blindness and low vision are also highlighted. The direct exchange with experts is particularly appreciated, as it opens up space for individual questions and personal perspectives.

For years, an integral part of the program has been an information block with deafblind and hearing-impaired speakers. This year, sign language interpreters—supported by the German Society for Deafblindness gGmbH—will contribute to greater accessibility on two days of the event, enabling even more people to actively participate.

CVI – visual cerebral perception disorders – will be explained and discussed in a separate thematic block. This little-known condition will be discussed in depth with current medical and diagnostic approaches, therapeutic concepts, and educational and practical everyday support services. The aim is to deepen understanding of CVI, bring together different perspectives, and provide impetus for tailored support.
With this new focus, the SightCity Forum is expanding its range of topics to include an important aspect in the context of visual impairments and creating space for professional exchange and further discussion.

The SightCity Forum can be followed both on site and live online. For three days, from May 27 to May 29, 2026, Kap Europa in Frankfurt am Main will become a place for meeting, exchange, and information.

The SightCity Forum will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kap Europa near Frankfurt Central Station in Frankfurt am Main.
