Artificial intelligence offers new ways to make everyday working life more accessible, efficient, and self-determined for blind and visually impaired people. Copilot supports this with three key functions: Copilot Vision—precise descriptions of the environment in real time.
Image analysis and image generation – explain images, recognize content, or generate new images. Audio summaries of meetings – listen to meetings afterwards like a structured podcast. These functions are flexibly available via smartphone app, desktop application, or the Edge browser.
In addition, agents in Copilot can be another efficient tool for making work easier and increasing productivity: What are agents—and how do they help? Agents are AI-powered assistance systems that independently perform tasks, process information, and automate recurring processes. They use natural language and personal context.
For blind and visually impaired people, agents can provide support in a number of ways, including: automated conversion of complex documents into an accessible structure, intelligently filtered information that corresponds to the user’s own way of working, assistance in navigating applications and digital processes, and relief from administrative tasks through autonomous processes.
In this way, agents make a significant contribution to reducing barriers and enabling greater independence in everyday working life. In practical scenarios from everyday life and work, we show the possibilities Copilot offers for people with blindness and visual impairments and what new developments and enhancements are available.

Franziska Sgoff & Lennart Höfer
Franziska Sgoff is the first blind employee to be hired full-time at Microsoft Germany. In her role as Business Program Manager, she helps corporate customers use technology to make workplaces as accessible as possible. She has established a cross-company network that connects people with and without disabilities. The community meets monthly via Microsoft Teams to discuss topics related to accessibility and inclusion in the workplace. Her passion is to motivate people with and without disabilities through her own story. She shows what is possible when you recognize and seize opportunities. One of her greatest strengths is networking.
Lennart Hoefer is a Cloud Solution Architect at Microsoft Germany and is based in Hamburg. In his role, he supports corporate customers on their journey into the world of AI – from removing technical barriers to sustainable adoption and change management. His technical focus is on Microsoft 365 Copilot and its extension possibilities in Copilot Studio.
He brings many years of experience in modern working with Microsoft 365 and IT consulting to the table and has been involved in extensive Microsoft 365 implementations and modern work transformation projects for many years. A topic close to his heart is showing how Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat can help everyone achieve more, regardless of their skills, background, or role.
