I have been working with a deafblind teenager for two years, teaching him orientation and mobility. He is 15 years old and has been at our facility for 10 years. He has made incredible progress in recent years, has a very large sign language vocabulary, reads and writes Braille, uses Lorm, and has mastered the finger alphabet.
What is interesting about him is that he constantly relates to his environment, has an incredible sense of orientation, and is extremely good at memorizing environmental patterns. In doing so, he sometimes uses his own techniques and methods. I would like to describe his biography, how he has developed, and show individual sequences from my work with him using videos.
I think my case study is extremely interesting for people who work in the field of deafblindness and also for other rehabilitation professionals.
