The first part of the lecture will explain to medical laypeople and interested professionals what tasks an ophthalmologist performs when diagnosing a visual perception disorder. It will show which examinations the ophthalmologist performs and on what basis when a visual perception disorder is suspected.
The second part of the lecture will examine the topic from an orthoptic perspective. It will outline which orthoptic examinations are necessary and useful when CVI is suspected. No prior knowledge is required.

Dr. Bettina von Livonius, LMU Medical Center Munich

Dr. med von Livonius has been a renowned speaker at the SightCity Forum for many years. Here is a brief overview of her career: Since 2001: Ophthalmologist at the LMU Eye Clinic in Munich Since 2008: Head of the Outpatient Clinic for the Visually Impaired at LMU Munich
Since 2016: State physician for the blind and visually impaired in the regions of Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria, and Swabia Since 2024: Member of the Ophthalmological Rehabilitation Commission of the DOG (German Ophthalmological Society) and BVA (Professional Association of Ophthalmologists)
Since 2025 Vice President of the ESLRR (European Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation) Daniela Osterholt is an orthoptist at the Johannes Kepler School in Aachen (special school for the visually impaired).
