Workshop stage – New educational programme at SightCity

With the SightCity workshop stage, we are presenting an interactive educational format for the first time that combines theory and practice directly at the trade fair. In a specially set up area on Level 1 of Kap Europa, we offer you the opportunity not only to familiarise yourself with aids and technologies, but also to try them out and learn how to use them yourself under professional guidance.

Our objective

The workshop stage was created to:

  • To enablepractice-orientated learning – from passive listening to active experimentation
  • To providedeeper insights into tools and technologies
  • Promotedirect dialogue between users, experts and manufacturers
  • Teachconcrete application skills
  • Being able to answerindividual questions in small groups

Unlike lectures in the forum, the focus here is on working and practising together. The workshops offer a safe environment in which to learn new skills and overcome uncertainties when using aids.

Who are the workshops for?

Our workshops are aimed at different target groups:

  • People with visual impairments who want to learn about new aids or make better use of existing ones
  • Relatives and carers who want to learn about support options
  • Specialist staff from counselling centres, rehabilitation facilities and schools
  • Employers and colleagues who want to create accessible working environments
  • Students and trainees in relevant disciplines

From beginners to advanced users – we offer suitable workshops for every level of knowledge.

Why a workshop stage?

SightCity has set up the workshop stage in response to the growing demand for hands-on education. We know from visitor surveys in previous years that many participants would like more opportunities to try out and learn hands-on.

The workshop stage closes the gap between theoretical lectures in the forum and the pure product presentation at the trade fair stands. It offers a structured framework in which visitors can acquire new skills under expert guidance.

This format also enables exhibitors to demonstrate the benefits of their products in a practical context and receive direct feedback from users.

Diverse theme worlds

Our range of workshops covers two main topics:

Working world & leisure world

From digital accessibility and professional skills to everyday life skills and creative activities – our workshops cover a broad spectrum.
