Sports and Music Stage

Rigidity is a thing of the past.

There is that moment. Many people who have at some point in their lives been confronted with a visual impairment, blindness or another disability – whether suddenly or gradually – are familiar with it. A moment when you pause for thought. When you are no longer sure what is still possible. What is still allowed. What your own body is still capable of – or permitted to do.

This moment is only human. But it doesn’t have to be the final word.

The Sports and Music Stage is our answer to that. No competitive sport, no contests, no audience watching and judging. Instead, it’s a space where you can simply give things a go. Perhaps for the first time in a long while. Perhaps for the very first time ever.

What to expect

Qigong. Judo. Square dancing. And much more – the sports and music stage hosts a variety of activities that all have one thing in common: they’re welcoming without being demanding.

You don’t need any prior knowledge. No need to be particularly fit. No experience required. All you need to do is turn up – and be curious enough to join in. The stage will take care of the rest.

Why you can’t see a camera here

To be honest? For one thing, we want to protect our brand-new kit – we don’t yet know just how wild things get around here.

But above all: if you know a camera is rolling, you’ll think twice before dancing, falling over, laughing or simply trying something new. And that’s exactly the kind of hesitation we want to avoid. The sports and music stage is a camera-free zone – so you can give things a go without having to explain yourself. No recording. No audience outside the room. Just you, the other participants – and a whole host of possibilities

Well prepared means well on the way

The Sports and Music Stage is a separate room – but the door is open all day. You can come and go as you please, watch, listen or just pop in for a quick look. No ticket, no fixed seating, no obligations.

If you’d like to get involved: for many of the activities, whatever you’re wearing is fine. With square dancing, for example, you can just join in as you are – comfortable shoes, and you’re all set.

Please remember to wear non-slip socks or clean socks only for floor-based activities – such as judo or qigong. There are no changing facilities on site, but you simply won’t need them for most classes.

For hygiene reasons, walking barefoot is not permitted anywhere on the sports and music stage.

And a bottle of water? Always a good idea.
