The BliZ at THM provides individualized, comprehensive support to blind and visually impaired students across all degree programs at THM. Our programs are modern and practice-oriented, such as Computer Science and Logistics. BliZ graduates have excellent career prospects.
Andreas Deitmer, M.Sc. and Dipl. Med. Inform. (FH) David Smida
Andreas Deitmer, M.Sc. | In his role as Deputy Director of the inclusive Study Centre for Blind and Visually Impaired Students [BliZ] at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) – University of Applied Sciences (THM), he has been successfully advising the THM, other universities, public institutions, and companies on the topics of digital accessibility and inclusive higher education for several years, together with his colleagues at BliZ. Andreas Deitmer is pursuing his PhD at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Lisbon) in the field of digital accessibility in multinational companies. As a certified BITV auditor (Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance) and a blind computer scientist (Master’s degree), he is able to identify digital barriers from a user’s perspective and find technical solutions. He also provides consulting and training on accessible teaching and digital inclusion. (FH) David Smida | David Smida has been dedicated to advising and supporting chronically ill and severely disabled people for over 15 years, both privately through self-help initiatives and professionally as a consultant at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) – University of Applied Sciences. His focus is always on the individual, with their unique background, strengths, and perspectives. As the Erasmus+ Inclusion Officer at the inclusive Study Centre for Blind and Visually Impaired Students at THM, he is particularly committed to making international mobility accessible to everyone. His aim is an inclusive study, enable participation, and sustainably strengthen.
